Love & Care Centre

Why are we here?

The current high unemployment and poverty rate in South Africa prompted an organization to be formed in order to assist where there is a need. Olievenhoutbosch is such a community. The average income per household is approximately R100.00 per month. To assist the community in alleviating hunger, soup kitchens were put in place by the Love & Care Center. Feeding schemes are necessary in these communities. Trained social welfare personnel are needed to assist in the day to day running of the center.

How did we get here?

The Love & Care Center was established out of need on the 11th of November 2007. The association was formed by the following members: Pastor Masila Erens Lekodiba (Degree and two diplomas in Theology). André Hatting - Successful Property Developer - Pretoria David Mulder - Electronic Engineer - Managing personnel and projects, Chairman of the Missions Board Rooihuiskraal

Vision

Social upliftment through caring for the community is our main aim. We shall achieve this through the following: Feeding the community through feeding schemes. Establish a crisis center to assist those in need. Host social and pastoral services to support the community on a daily basis. People must be trained in various life skills to assist them in helping themselves. Restore dignity and self-respect to the impoverished and unemployed. Cater for the needs of the children and educate them.

Mission

To have the necessary infrastructure in place i.e. land, buildings, staff and the necessary funding to maintain the Love & Care Center. Uplift the community through projects. Social integration in a peaceful environment.

What have we achieved so far?

Since November 2007 the center acquired a new tent from which the community center is being managed. The Love & Care Center membership has grown and is increasing on a weekly basis. The feeding scheme is feeding an increasing number of people on a daily basis. A soup kitchen on Sundays for members of the community. Initially feeding about 20 people, but has since in- creased to more than 100. Pastoral services are in place and the service is in great demand in the community.

What do we aim to achieve?

Our involvement in the community has exceeded our capacity to deliver service without the assistance from outside the community i.e. financial and material assistance to sustain the Love & Care Center. The need for land and buildings of a more permanent nature is a must for the future sustainability of the center.
